Barridas: Sweep, Flow & Connection

Service Description
Barridas shouldn’t feel like pushing or dragging a foot across the floor. At their best, they emerge from connection: an invitation, a response, and a shared movement between two dancers. Over six weeks, we’ll explore the mechanics behind clear, fluid barridas and the many possibilities that can grow from them. We’ll work with weight, timing, contact, direction, and musicality to understand not only how to create a sweep, but when and why it belongs in the dance. We’ll experiment from both roles, play with different entries and exits, and explore how barridas can become part of an improvised conversation rather than a memorized sequence. Expect technique. Expect problem-solving. Expect play. The goal isn’t to learn “a barrida.” It’s to understand the movement well enough to make it your own. Add-On Rate: Already enrolled in another six-week intensive? Cancellation Policy
Class Cancellations: If you cancel your class registration 24 hours before the scheduled time, you will receive a full refund or credit toward a future class. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before class will not be eligible for a refund or credit. Workshops and Practica: Cancellations for workshops or Practica Para Dos must be made at least 48 hours in advance to receive a full refund. Cancellations within 48 hours of the event are non-refundable but may be credited toward a future event at our discretion. Private Coaching: Private session cancellations require a minimum of 24 hours' notice for a full refund or rescheduling. Cancellations made less than 24 hours prior will result in a forfeited lesson fee. No-Shows: No refunds or credits will be issued for no-shows to any class, workshop, or practica. Studio Cancellations: In the rare event that we will need to cancel a class, workshop, or a private session, you will receive a full refund or the option to reschedule. All refund requests must be made over the phone!
